LL.M. Programme Overview

Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) offers a Master’s Degree Programme in three specialized areas of law:

  1. LL.M. in Constitutional Law (2 Years)

  2. LL.M. in Intellectual Property Rights (2 Years)

  3. LL.M. in Criminal Law (2 Years)

This two-year postgraduate programme is meticulously designed for law graduates aiming to acquire advanced and specialized legal training. It prepares students for academic careers, roles in government, policymaking, and legal practice, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary knowledge and application.


LL.M. (Constitutional Law) at Christ Academy Institute of Law

Christ Academy Institute of Law (CAIL), affiliated with KSLU, offers an exceptional LL.M. programme in Constitutional Law. The programme focuses on the underlying principles that govern constitutional frameworks and administrative processes.

Through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theoretical understanding with practical application, students are trained to critically analyse and address complex legal issues in public law. The programme fosters intellectual inquiry and insightful debate, enriching students’ perspectives on both domestic and international legal systems.

CAIL aims to nurture scholars who will contribute to classroom justice, policymaking, legal practice, public service, and academia, particularly in the realm of constitutional law.

Activities and Training 2024-2025

Judicial Service Training Academy

CAIL is the first institution in India where Judicial Services Training is given as a part of curriculum at a nominal cost. Judicial Service Training Academy is established at CAIL with the mission to train the students for the judicial service examinations. The 3rd, 4th and 5th year students will be trained by a senior resource person who is an expert in the field.

• 1st Semester – Internship at a national or international NGO 2nd Semester- Internship under a trial court lawyer
• 3rd Semester – Internship under a High Court lawyer
• 4th Semester – Internship with District Legal Services Authority
5th Semester – Internship in the field of Legal Education/ Judicial clerkship/ Parliamentary and Legislative Committees
• 6th Semester to 10th Semester – Internship of student’s choice art

One of the principal focus areas of CAIL is research and publication. Since its inception, the faculty members of CAIL have endeavoured to bring out books on various subjects of law according to the KSLU syllabus. CAIL has already made a mark in a publication by bringing out 50 textbooks in a years. CAIL is committed to bringing out text books on all subjects offered by the Karnataka State Law University in their LL.B. Programme.

CAIL has highly qualified faculty members, combining the experience of seniors and the enthusiasm of freshers. Most of the faculty members are Ph. D. holders from prestigious national institutions and are engaged in research and publication in emerging areas of law and society. CAIL is an institute fostering excellence in teaching, research and community service. Teaching and pedagogy are designed to give extensive exposure to students to domestic, international and comparative law courses.
