Centre for Privacy, AI-Technology and Law (C-PAL)
ABOUT
Centre for Privacy, AI-Technology and Law
(C-PAL)
The Centre for Privacy, AI-Technology and Law (C-PAL) is a specialised academic and policy-oriented centre established at the Christ Academy Institute of Law. The Centre is conceived as a hub operating at the intersection of law, technology, public policy, and governance, with a specific focus on privacy, data protection, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. In the contemporary data-driven digital environment, technological innovation increasingly shapes legal systems, regulatory frameworks, markets, and social relations. While data and artificial intelligence generate significant economic and societal value, they also raise complex questions concerning privacy, algorithmic accountability, cybersecurity, digital rights, and ethical governance. C-PAL is established to address these challenges through rigorous research, policy engagement, legal education, and institutional collaboration.
The Centre seeks to bridge the gap between academia, government, industry, and civil society by translating research into actionable policy insights, developing specialised expertise in technology law, and fostering informed discourse on the relationship between innovation and fundamental rights. It functions as a platform for scholarship, capacity building, public engagement, and thought leadership in the evolving domain of digital governance.
