Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kurian Joseph is a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, who is known for his humane and compassionate approach to law. He completed L.L.B. from Kerala Law Academy Law College, Trivandrum in 1979 and enrolled as an Advocate at the Kerala Bar Council in 1979. He was appointed as the Additional Advocate General of the High Court of Kerala in 1994 and was designated as Senior Advocate of the High Court of Kerala in the year 1996. In 2000, he was formally Appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Kerala. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh in 2010 and was elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court of India in 2013. As Judge of the Supreme Court he was involved in landmark cases like S.C. Advocates on Record Association v. Union of India (2015) that struck down the Constitutional Amendment establishing National Judicial Appointments Commission and Shayara Bano v. Union of India (2017) that made the practice of Triple Talaq illegal. He was one of the ten judges in the history of the Supreme Court of India to have delivered more than 1000 judgements. While on the bench Justice Kurian Joseph has demonstrated his support for speedy delivery of justice by disposing more than 8600 cases of the Supreme Court of India. He is actively involved in the field of legal education and is a visitor at the National University of Advance Legal Studies, Kochi; Member of the Academic Council, Kerala University; Senate Member of Cochin University of Science and Technology; President, Kerala Judicial Academy and Visiting Faculty at the National Judicial Academy and other State Judicial Academies.

Mr. Patrick Reyners

Mr. Patrick Reyners is the former Head of Legal Affairs of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (Paris). He has also served as legal consultant for the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (UAE), and for the International Atomic Energy Agency (Vienna). He is undoubtedly the tallest figure in the field of nuclear law at the global level. He was behind the launch of the International School of Nuclear Law, in Montpellier (France) in 2001, which has trained hundreds of students, practitioners, scientists, and policy makers the nuances of international nuclear law. He is associated with many reputed universities around the globe and is currently the secretary general and scientific advisor to the International Nuclear Law Association.

Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao

Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao was the Vice Chancellor of the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru for two terms and is currently the Chairperson of Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies, New Delhi. Trained in law, Prof. Rao has done his Ph D from the Andhra University and in that process bagged the Gold Medal for the best Ph. D. and the Best Researcher awards. Prof. Rao has authored 6 books and published more than 130 papers. He has been awarded Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon Best Law Teacher Award in the year 2018 and the Attorney General K. Parasaran Award in 2019 in recognition of his outstanding scholarship in legal education. With 42 years of teaching and research experience, Prof. Rao is undoubtedly one of the towering personalities in the field of legal education in India and an inspiration for hundreds of young law teachers all over the country.

Prof. Dr. V. Nagaraj

Prof. Dr. V. Nagaraj was the Former Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Odisha and Registrar of National Law School of India University, Bangalore and is currently appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur. He replaces founding Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Balraj Chouhan at the helm.  Prof Nagraj began his career as a Lecturer at Havanur College of Law, Bangalore in 1989. Three years later, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Law at NLSIU, and became Associate Professor of Law in 1997. He became Additional Professor of Law in 2000 and Professor of Law in 2006.

He was a Research Scholar at Vanderbilt Law School, USA in 1994 and at Warwick University, UK in 1997. He served as Registrar at NLSIU from 2008 to 2013 and was later appointed as Vice-Chancellor of NLU Odisha, where he worked for one year before moving back to teach at NLSIU.

Prof. (Dr.) Jose P. Verghese

Prof. (Dr.) Jose P. Verghese was the founder Vice-Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. He was also the Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director of School of Law, Jain University, Bangalore, Chair Professor (ADR) at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, Professor of Law and Director of Centre for WTO Studies at National Law University, Jodhpur, and Professor Emeritus (UGC) on International Arbitration at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. He was also the Vice Chairman (Judicial), Central Administrative Tribunal, (Principal Bench), New Delhi (1996-1998). Prof. (Dr.) Jose is an Arbitrator and is in the Panel of Arbitrators in ICADR, ICA, ASSOCHEM and DIAC.
